Daugherty Family Emergency Fund
Donation protected
Many of you will have made your way to this page because of your connection to one of our Indianapolis yoga community's most beloved members and leaders, Lisa Daugherty. Sasha Daugherty is one of her 4 daughters - maybe you know Sasha, one of her sisters or her father, Brett - no matter how you arrived, we are so thankful you are here. This is Sasha's story...
On Friday September 11th Sasha was admitted for surgery. After a summer of curious symptoms and pain, doctors found that Sasha is suffering from Idiopathic Pancreatitis - idiopathic meaning it occurs without explanation or common cause. Her resulting surgery removed 6.5 lbs of fluid from her chest and an ERCP - a procedure used to diagnose diseases of the gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, and liver - was performed. They were able to access her pancreatic duct and and inserted a stent to relieve pressure and redirect the fluid so the leak in her pancreas could seal. Expecting a follow up surgery 2-4 weeks later to break up the large stone in her pancreas, Sasha was feeling good post-op and able to return home the same day. The family was prepared to move on to management of the disease with diet, lifestyle and check ups.
But between Sunday night and Monday morning, not long after returning home, Sasha’s health took a serious decline. She spiked a fever, was short of breath and once again she experienced agonizing pain - she was rushed back to the hospital. With pancreatic enzymes collecting around her left lung, a chest tube had to be inserted to drain the fluid as she once again awaits surgery.
On behalf of Sasha and the Daugherty family, we their community are seeking monetary donations to help fund the medical expenses for Sasha which may not be covered by health insurance as well as the numerous other costs incurred when emergencies like this take place so unexpectedly.
Anyone who knows the Daugherty family knows what amazing people they are. A family of such powerful love and connection, they inspire any and all whose lives they touch. Sasha is no exception -a bright, beautiful, force of love and light.
Please help in any way you can to ease their great burden during this time. From monetary contribution, to your prayers, your intentions, your love and powers of manifestation - no effort is too small and all will be appreciated beyond words.
Shanti Shanti Shanti.
