Dave and Lauri Harfst Recovery Fund

Hello All,
One of our own, a person who has been a part of the boating community here in Colorado for decades needs some help. Dave Harfst, a well-known boat mechanic, who worked at Tommy’s for many years, then at Calibre for an additional number of years. He worked hard to establish his own business in 2017, D&L Speed and Marine, which successfully services hundreds of boats now. As you know, Dave has an incredible reputation and following in Colorado. Now, he needs our help to tackle mounting medical bills from a completely unforeseen tragedy.
A few weeks before the holidays, Dave’s wife Lauri, suffered a seizure. She was taken to the hospital by an ambulance and it was discovered that she had a brain tumor. She had no prior symptoms and was an extremely healthy individual. The doctors operated and removed a tumor the size of a fist. Fortunately, the tumor was benign and Lori is recovering well. She has slowly regained her balance, speech and sight after the surgery; however, she will have to relearn how to read and write because those functions have not fully returned. The recovery will be long. Dave is self-employed and Lauri retired to help Dave on the administrative side of the business. We recently learned that their health insurance has been maxed-out. The Harfst’s are still looking at hundreds of thousands in medical bills.
Dave is a very humble individual and would never ask for help. We are sure all of you know Dave directly, or have heard of him. Even more likely, your customers have heard of him or know of him and would be more than willing to help out if they knew what was going on.
We are setting up a fund here so anyone who wants to contribute can. Every little bit will help pay the enormous medical expenses Dave and Lauri are facing. Everything that is donated will go to assist them with past and future medical bills.
We urge you to consider posting this in a place where your customers can see it and/or sharing the fundraiser on your Facebook page or anywhere else you can imagine. We know that the caring boating community here in Colorado will help if they are able to.
