The hardest thing I have ever had to do was accept that our dad is gone. It seems surreal that a man who loved and fought so passionately, a man whose brilliance and magnetism were recognized by everyone he met, a man who constantly defeated the odds and chose to persist over and over again, could have finally cashed in on the last of his nine lives.

He was my guide, my protector, my confidant, and while it seems impossible to exist without him, his lessons and love are enduring. Amongst them was the one we, as Francis, have struggled with the most, "Stop trying to do everything alone."

So, the second hardest thing I have ever had to do may be accepting that David and I are at a point where we should ask for help.

Unfortunately, Dad didn't tell anyone how bad things were until recently, leaving no time to get anything in order. He didn't have a will or life insurance and kept everything in his business accounts. This means we have to go through probate, and everything he worked so hard for is subject to creditors, which had become substantial due to his medical bills. Additionally, because of the nature of his work, there are legal factors we have to consider as we wrap up his business. So far, we have been able to cover all of the funeral/memorial expenses and our travel costs, but we've realized that it's almost impossible to do all of what needs to be done in FL from AZ and NC without legal guidance. So, we have decided hiring lawyers is the best way to deal with these affairs, but we are starting to exhaust our personal finances. Any funds donated will be used for this purpose and to help with additional travel expenses.

Even if you can't contribute, but you're here reading this, know that we appreciate you. We are beyond grateful for the love and support we have received in so many different ways.
