Dave Myhre Recovery.

6 weeks ago Dave was diagnosed with pleurisy. He went into the ER on July 3rd with major chest pain. He was sent home with the doctor stating that his pleurisy was back. July 4th the pain continued and developed a high fever. July 5th followed up with doctor and collapsed at clinic and was brought to the ER at Essentia Health in Duluth by an ambulance. Dave was admitted to the ER and misdiagnosed with pneumonia but later found out he was going into kidney failure. He was admitted to the hospital and treated for pneumonia. Symptoms did not improve, further tests were ordered and after 4 days he was diagnosed with empyema ( pockets of infection ) in the chest lining. A chest tube was inserted to try and drain the fluid and infection. The infection is antibiotic resistant. The drainage has slowed but there is still fluid in the chest lining that is not coming out. They’re weighing options but surgery seems to be the best outcome. He isn’t sure when he’ll be released from the hospital. As of Friday he has been in for 9 days. His fever has been up and down the whole time. His short term disability is only going to help so much towards lost wages. Dave has worked for United Healthcare for 20 years and he has been a part of the racing community for over 30 years. He has volunteered a lot of his time over the years helping others in the community. His blood sugar has been elevated which has resulted in diabetic complications. Dave has been in an extreme amount of pain these last 9 days and would love to see the support from friends, family, and others surrounding him. Every little bit helps, whether it is kind words, a share so others can see, or a donation. Thank you all in advance. Keep an eye out for updates under the updates tab.
