Dave Weinberg Foundation-Caernarfon Half Marathon
A group of my closest friends and I are joining together to raise money for the Azaylia foundation in memory of my dad, by completing the Caernarfon half marathon on his birthday on the 10th September.
As some of you will know, my father was my best friend, a caring, loving man who would do anything for anyone to help put a smile on their face. My dad was unfortunately taken from us after going in to hospital for a check up following a routine hernia operation, that was causing some discomfort and pain. What we did not know at the time, was once my dad went in to hospital, he unfortunately was never going to come out again. My Father was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and 3 days later we sat around his bed saying our final goodbyes as he passed away. The loss of my father left our family devastated, with a huge chunk of us all missing.
As the years have passed my family has grown and I now have 2 beautiful daughters of my own, both of which have never been able to meet their wonderful Grandad who I know would have loved them unconditionally.
Most recently my second daughter was born, who was in hospital for the first month of her life after being diagnosed with viral meningitis. As a parent being told news like this is devastating, leaving you feeling so helpless and sad. I can’t even come to imagine what some of the families have gone through having to watch their little baby fight cancer. Luckily Lucy has come through strong despite the rocky start and made a full recovery.
My father loved children and was always touched when anything came on the TV about children going through difficulties, often holding back tears as he really felt for both the parents and the children going through these tough times. I know he would have done anything he could to help them.
The combination of the loss of my father due to cancer and having two young children, has led me to the Azaylia Foundation which combines two topics that are really close to my heart. I have followed there journey over the last few years and have been touched by the journey the foundation has been on.
The Azaylia Foundation does some fantastic work in helping children that have been diagnosed with cancer and provides vital funding and support to help the development of research and technology.I know this is something that my dad would be very proud to be a part of and would have wanted to help them raise money to help with their continued growth.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? Every donation will help the Azaylia Foundation. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and many others.
