Hi, my name is Sylvia. I am hoping to raise funds for my parents, Dave and Stacey. Dave had a massive heart attack the night of January 2nd 2023. Thanks to Stacey's quick thinking Dave was able to receive life saving CPR and ultimately why he is still here today.
Dave had 3 stents placed in his heart and 2 attempts to open the blocked front artery but were unsuccessful.
He was sent home with a life vest that will shock him to save his life if he were to have another heart attack. His heart functioning at approximately 20%(a healthy heart functions around 65%)
He quit smoking!!!
Mom has been doing an amazing job with meal/food prep since its 100% heart healthy low sodium diet now!! And Dad has been doing an amazing job eating!!
Dave will have an MRI of his heart to see overall heart function. As well as to see if the front tissue where the blocked artery is, is viable. If it is viable, which we are hopeful it will be, then a bypass would become a discussion and potentially happen in the future. Cardiology said that where the blocked artery is in Dave's heart, his heart basically made its own 'feeders' that were providing blood flow to that section of Dave's heart keeping not only Dave's heart 'functioning' but keeping him alive. Which leads us to hope the viability is enough for a bypass. A bypass would provide higher improvement of overall heart function as well as quicker recovery. If it is not viable then continue with the lifestyle and med. Changes and live with the adjustments as needed.
Both outcomes are positive, both outcomes my dad is still here. That's all that matters.
Dave will be having a difibulator placed after the MRI of his heart. They are waiting until after the MRI to place the difibulator because difibulators will cause an inaccurate MRI reading. Once the difibulator is placed we will have a clearer image of the future and time frames to get back to 'normal'. He will no longer have to wear the life vest and He will start cardiac rehab.
We are working with Essentia Health Cardiology Dept. As well as Dr. Marcella at St. Mary's in Duluth. The providers all seem extremely knowledgeable, reputable and genuinely care about my Dad and ensuring the best outcome.
We are unsure when Dave will be able to return to work. Everything is basically 'on-hold' until he is able to at least have the MRI of his heart and the difibulator placed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and help relieve the financial stress that goes along with the long difficult road to recovery but thankful and blessed that we've got a road and we've got recovery and most importantly we've got Dave, My Dad, The World's Greatest Man.
