Dave's Charity 3 Yorkshire Peaks Challenge 2024
David Oxley is one of the world’s special people. He retired from BT after giving 42 years of service. He thoroughly enjoys his retirement in Standish, Nr Wigan with his partner Pat and their two lovely dogs Leon and Heidi. Both dogs are testament to the joy that rescues can bring, with Leon adopted from SRS and Heidi from Animal Rescue Cyprus.
Rather than taking his foot off the gas, Dave has a very active retirement. Despite the distance involved he regularly travels to Scotland to help at the SRS rehoming centre for weeks at a time, he owns a narrow boat, has volunteered for the Canal and Rivers Trust, has run 10 marathons in his life with a creditable best time of 2 hours 55 minutes and is a keen walker.
At the age of 71 years young, Dave took on the amazing challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats without support to raise money for SRS.
Not one to have a rest Dave has decided to walk the Three Yorkshire Peaks in May 2024
On the 8th May Dave will be starting from Horton in Ribblesdale at 7.30 am on Wednesday 8th May and finishing at the same place . Aiming to be finished in much less than 12 hours. The 3 peaks are : Pen-y-Ghent. Whernside and Ingleborough.
Dave has done the 3 times previously but this is the 1st time for charity. He would like anyone who feels able and willing to join him with or without dogs on 1,2 or all 3 peaks. There is always a circular walk for each peak separately. You can also raise funds by setting up your own GoFundMe fundraiser. Just get in touch and we can let you know how.
Your donation will make a world of difference to the dogs in the care of Saving and Rehoming Strays so thank you for your support xx
