Dave George’s long recovery from a serious sxs accident
Donation protected
Hey guys it’s Tasha and Cody here , we have started this go fund me for Dave and Amy George and there very long road to recovery.
Dave had an accident while being a passenger in a side by side that rolled. His hand was crushed under the weight of the quad and completely torn apart.
His 4 main arteries were severed along with 5 veins. His nerves were cut and his palm was split open and the skin ripped off (de-gloved they call it).
His fingers were all broken and and his hand looked like a pancake. His friend’s were quick thinking and applied a tourniquet to stop the massive amount of blood loss.
They rushed him by quad to a highway and into an ambulance. The ambulance transported him to the Nipawin hospital and air lifted him to Saskatoon.
At this point his fingers were white and cold. They were unsure if they could save them. He was immediately transferred to St. Paul’s hospital via ambulance and underwent 6 hour surgery on his hand with the assistance of 2 surgeons.
They repaired the 4 main arteries and his 5 veins. They reconnected the bones and put 9 large metal pins in his hand. They were successful in bringing blood flow back to his fingers.
There have been some challenges with bleeding and he was too swollen to repair the palm at the initial surgery. He will require a second surgery which will include a skin graft to repair his palm once the swelling subsides.
Amy is gonna remain in Saskatoon for an indefinite amount of time while he begins what will be a very long journey to recovery.
there is gonna be many expenses come up from the 2 ambulance and air ambulance ride expenses to living and being back and forth to regina for their two other children.
as well as many many hours of physio and hand therapy !!
Thank you all for your love ❤️
