"Dave's Rally Against Cancer"
David Mele is my dear friend, co-worker and the person I am sure you all know as the guy who is always there to show kindness, give a lending hand and most definitely keep us laughing!
Dave was diagnosed mid-February with stage two cancer. His doctor said that this is an aggressive cancer but that he has an optomistic outlook on his chances of beating it with continous monitoring and treatment. Dave has already undergone surgery in an attempt to remove the first signs. Since then a CT scan has shown enflammed lymph nodes in the back of his abdomen and a spot on his liver that is also of concern. Last week Dave had an MRI for a further look into the situation which required a second biopsy. A port for chemotherapy was recently implanted and quickly followed up by a blood clot in both his leg and lung that has required a three day hospital stay with testing and treatment. Still yet to come are hearing and breathing tests that are necessary before he can begin chemotherapy.
As a result of all the testing, treatments, medications and surgeries coupled with severe back pain and trouble walking on a daily basis Dave has taken a temporary leave from his job as a chef at the Albany Country Club. He will also need this time to allow his body to rest and heal. I am sure most of you know that the bills can pile up fast, that is why I am asking for your help. GoFundMe requires that a monetary goal be set. I chose a humble $34.00 because "34" is Dave's lucky number and I know that as a humble person it can be hard to ask for donations, so if you can and would like to help Dave and his fight against cancer, whatever you feel comfortable giving will be put to good use and immensely appreciated. If you can not help monetarily prayers would be great too!
Thank you in advance for your thoughtfullness and support!
