Dave's Medical Fund

Hi all please help  Mary Mackiewicz and her fiancé Dave Whitehead.  They have been together for 11 years this coming fall.  Dave has 2 wonderful boys, which he adores.  Unfortunately, on Friday, February 3rd, 2017, Dave was severely burned (over 25% of his lower body) in a work accident, and was rushed to The Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital.  The following Monday, a lengthy surgery was undergone to perform skin grafts.  Surgery was more extensive and took much longer than Dr’s thought it would, about 5 hours.  As expected, Dave was hooked up to lots of fluids and antibiotics.  Dr’s explained there was a lot of blood loss during his procedure.  Two days after the surgery, Dave developed infections at all the skin graft sights. Different antibiotics were administered.  The pain Dave has been going thru is beyond description; morphine is barely touching his pain.  Mary has been by Dave’s side constantly, to give him the encouragement, love and emotional support he needs throughout his ordeal; his family have all visited to do the same.

The road to recovery will not be easy.  It will be long and hard, with several more surgeries, skin graft procedures, in addition to lots of physical and occupational therapy, and rehabilitation.  The expenses involved in Dave’s current and immediate future will be great.  Dave is a self employed carpenter, by trade.  Unfortunately, we cannot predict if he will be able to work in this physically demanding type of work, directly affecting his financial earning capabilities.  For all of the unpredictable situations involved from this unfortunate accident, both physically and financially, this is the reason we are all reaching out for your help.  Please find it in your hearts to donate!  Thank you!
