Davey Boys Bench
Donation protected
David Cummings, Davey Boy, Silver Surfer.. Hill-Head Legend! We all knew and loved him. Sadly taken from us far too early, but never to be forgotten.
The Hill Head Kitesurfer community and Davids friends and family are looking to fund a memorial bench adjacent to our launch spot at Seafarers Park, so we can remember David at his favourite beach, whilst watching the kites fly high.
If you can spare a few pounds towards this bench, it will be a touching reminder of our good friend Dave, who was always there to launch and land, and bend your ear for a few minutes (hours). It would be fitting to have the bench alongside Colin McCulloch and Bill Young as fellow legends of 'The Head'
I will apply to Fareham Borough Council for the memorial bench, and the expected fee would be £1715.00. The figure is set to rise in April significantly so I would like to get the application in before then.
Any additional leftover funds will be donated to the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service, a life-saving charity which covers the waterfront at Hill-Head. I'm sure David would approve of these funds going to GAFIRS as a worthy cause.
I will be responsible for the application and ensuring the funds go to FBC and GAFIRS, and will ask Andy Jacobs to monitor and audit the transactions to ensure every penny goes towards the bench and GAFIRS
Thanks and kind regards
