David A. Hammond, Rogers High School Class of '68

To the Rogers High School Class of 1968:

As you may or may not know, our RHS Classmate, Dave Hammond recently passed away after a short illness. This came as a shock to many of us as we recently celebrated our 55th Class Reunion with Dave and his wife Sherry in attendance this last September 23rd. You may recall, Dave and Sherry took care of the check-in table at the reunion to greet you as you arrived. At our October 25th RHS '68 monthly luncheon, Sherry (an honorary member of the RHS Class of '68) was there, Dave stayed at home as he hadn't been feeling well. Sherry told us that she made a deal with Dave that if she went to the luncheon to represent them, he'd go to the doctor to figure out what was going on with him being so ill lately. Dave did not make it to the doctor, two days later, Friday October 27th, he went to the hospital where he passed away. Many of us remember Dave as a good person, a caring individual with a great sense of humor. He will certainly be missed by many who knew him.

Unknown to most of us, Dave and Sherry had been going through some difficult hard times recently due to past medical and repair bills. Brenda Rogers Gibson and I thought that we'd set up a GoFundMe account to accept donations from those of us who can and may want to provide some financial relief for final expenses and funeral costs. Thank you for your consideration and we're sure Sherry will be very appreciative of our help.
