David A Irvin medical expenses

Hello! I am Wendy, David Irvin's sister. I am trying to raise money to cover the so very many expenses that have been adding up and will continue.

Some may all ready know but for those that don't Dave was diagnosed with cancer in February. Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tongue and neck. At this time it is so advanced it is not surgical.

Between Thanksgiving and February, Dave had what seemed like typical winter illnesses. First an ear infection with swollen glands in his neck that was relieved by antibiotics and steroids. The swelling did quickly return and this time was thought to be an infected salavitory gland but the swelling only responded on one side of his neck to the prescribed medication treatment. Further testing found the very fast growing cancer.

Treatment has required a gastrostomy feeding tube for nutrition and fluids. He is unable to swallow as a side effect of radiation. He will need to complete 35 radiation treatments and 7 doses of chemotherapy.

Visually you can see the tumor in his neck is shrinking with treatment. A new scan will wait until treatment is complete and one month of healing has taken place. He will likely need speech and swallowing therapy. He has been unable to work for several weeks already and a lot of healing and strength is needed before he can return to work.

Any donations will be used to help with hospital, doctor, treatment, prescription, nutrition supplements, supplies and living expenses.
