From Misdiagnoses to Creating life through IVF

Donation protected

I’ve opened this case/ask to the public to help my daughter and her husband have a baby (my grandsugars)! A misdiagnosis from doctors led to PERMANENT, NON-REVERSAL birth control. Only to find out later the doctor was WRONG and Karissa’s condition could have been fixed with surgery. The finding was TOO LATE and now Karissa and David’s only option to have a baby is IVF – THEY NEED HELP! Insurance will not cover the $20,000 cost for the procedure and deadlines for payment are coming around quick! We need very fast action from very generous friends, family, and people everywhere to make it happen. Believing God for this miracle!

The reason for their timeline:

1. Right now is the last of her prime time through IVF or success rates start going down

2. The likelihood of it being successful on the first round goes down a lot when she turns 30 which means they would have to pay over and over until a successful transfer for the embryo to stick.

3. In order for this to not affect school Karissa and David would need to be pregnant by beginning October to give birth by June so that she can be home to take care of the baby for the 3 months of summer and then continue to finish her senior year of school and graduate.

4. Payment is due by August 31st!

Karissa was misdiagnosed with pulmonary stenosis in 2015. Doctors advised she couldn’t have kids and needed Essure put in to make sure she will NOT get pregnant. In 2018, as symptoms worsened, a different pulmonologist gave her the correct diagnosis, pulmonary sequestration, which can be fixed with surgery to remove a part of the lower lung where the defect was and recommended a quick timeline because of her chances of a heart attack before the age of 30. The surgery was scheduled the following week. Unfortunately, the doctor missed a staple which caused Karissa’s lung to constantly deflate. On one occasion, Karissa had a fully collapsed lung pushing her heart 2 inches to the right. The doctor had to apply a chest tube without anesthetics, the screams and agony heard from the hall are telling of what she went through.

After a month in the hospital, having gone through 2 surgeries and 6 chest tubes Karissa was released, and doctors said she would have a normal life. Of course, this was too late since Essure was done a few years prior.

Hear from Karissa and David: Finding each other and marrying your life partner is truly a wonderful experience (married 04/11/21). Sharing dreams, ambitions and supporting each other is priority. We want to grow our family and the only way is through IVF. We were so excited receiving clearance from our IVF doctor. Then, we found out our insurance will NOT cover the cost because they consider the permanent birth control a CHOICE, we would have to pay out of pocket. We already told Amy and Gabriel and they have been nothing but excited and supportive. They constantly ask, “when can we get a baby brother/sister”? David has always wanted a baby and loves Amy and Gabriel but really hates that he couldn’t have been around sooner for them.

Please help us make this happen!
