David Briant’s battle with pancreatic cancer

My friend, David Briant, was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This disease has turned my typically upbeat and helpful friend into a shell of himself. I met him as my paralegal in 2000 and we’ve remained very good friends since then. The David I know has always been someone who would give you the shirt off his back. He’s done so much to help so many and I’m praying this effort will help him.

He has only undergone one chemo treatment because of fluid that keeps forming on his abdomen. A stent was implanted, but it is doing little to lessen the fluid accumulation. He has been hospitalized three times for stent replacement procedures. The fluid issues postponed his second chemo treatment which is now rescheduled for August 25th.

As a result of his diagnosis, Dave has not been able to work since he was initially hospitalized in May. He will be retired from his job effective August 31st which will mark the end of his health insurance and income. His medical expenses are rising and will only become greater when his insurance ends. He is the single parent of a 23-year-old who is trying to assist to the best of his abilities. They could use whatever financial assistance they can get. If you can’t donate, your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Dave had his second chemo treatment on August 25th. I've talked to him several times since that day and he is still very tired, but his voice is sounding stronger. His next chemo treatment is in two weeks. He also has an appointment this week with a specialist to address the fluid build-up in his abdomen.
