Fort Wayne lost another one of its native sons in the early morning hours of June 26, 2018. David Bryon Hall, 49, after an evening of enjoying a hospital visit from family members and loved ones all with the expectation of David returning home in just a more few days, shuffled off his mortal coil around 4:00 A.M.
David lived a good life as a father, a Marine, a Navy man, a brother, a dear friend and a son. David was a veteran of the armed services. He received many military commendations throughout his career. He began his military career as a member of the U. S. Marine Corps. and later transferred to the U. S. Navy. He served his country honorably for over 20 yeas. David saw the world and served not just his country, but family and friends as well. Most recently, David served his patients, doctors and co-workers as an employee at The Orthopedic Hospital on the Lutheran Hospital Campus.
David grew up in Fort Wayne’s Brookmill apartments in the 1970s and 80s. He attended, Justin Study Elementary, Kekionga Middle School, Portage Middle School, Wayne High School, and attended Indiana University. While in high school, David was a strong friendly student, an asset to the Wayne Generals football team, a Trekkie, and was a fine student in Mrs. Mack’s Latin classes. Not bad at all for the little boy born to Roberta (Bevelle) Hall and Robert Henry Hall, Jr. back on April 17,1969 when the number one song in the U.S. was The Fifth Dimension’s “Aquarius.”
While serving in Japan David met Michelle Blanchard. Their union produced three strong and creative young men that survive him: Matthew Bryon Hall, Jacob Charles Hall, and Liam Robert Hall. David’s death was preceded by his father Robert Henry Hall, Jr. and is survived by his devoted mother, Roberta (Bevelle) Hall, sister Mary Ann (Bevelle) Roberson, a band of brothers: Richard W. Bevelle, Henry O. Hall, Joe B. Hall, and William R. Hall. He also leaves men he adopted as brothers for life in Richard G. McCampbell, Charles Davis, Pat Scherrer and Samuel A. Harris. He also leaves behind an army of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends old & new.
We will come together Tuesday, July 3, 2018 to celebrate the life and accomplishments of one of Fort Wayne’s unforgettable cherished native sons, David Byron Hall. Services will be held at Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 East Tillman Road at 1:00 P.M. with viewing two hours prior.
Care of his memorial services have been entrusted to Nelson Memorial Gardens, Inc.
An appeal for Donations: Many of you have asked how you can help. We have established this GoFundMe account to assist his children in wrapping up his final affairs. David was heroic when it came to serving others; however, it usually came at the cost of neglecting himself.
We expect that David's military benefits should allow his children to attend an Indiana state college or university tuition free.
David's military burial benefits will range from $300 and $750.
Memorial Services are estimated to cost $7,500. Funds in excess of the Memorial Services will be used to assist with affairs of his estate. ALL proceeds remaining after estate obligation have been satisfied will be disbursed equally between Matthew, Jacob and Liam.
