David B’s Homecoming Fundraiser
Donation protected
We (Djuna Schamus & Will Mann) have had the honor of working with David as he prepared for his February 2023 parole hearing and now, after nearly 17 years, he’s coming home!
David is an incredible friend, son, brother, dog trainer, social justice advocate, writer, and person. David blesses everyone lucky enough to know him with his endless kindness, humility, love, and humor. We feel forever grateful for the gifts he has given us and the lessons he has taught us.
David has been incarcerated since he was a teenager and is getting ready to start his new life. We would love it if you could help us raise funds for his homecoming.
The funds will help him get started and will go towards his everyday living expenses (such as food, clothing, toiletries, furniture, medical expenses, cell phone bills, etc.).
This money will also go towards helping him start his own dog training business. David is an accomplished dog trainer through his years volunteering for Puppies Behind Bars where he raised numerous service animals, and he hopes to continue this work on the outside.
While incarcerated, David received his GED, associate's degree through the Cornell Prison Education Program, and his bachelor’s degree from Nyack College. He wrote his senior thesis on the school-to-prison pipeline, and he hopes to support young people who are impacted by the criminal legal system. In keeping with his passion for uplifting other people and fighting for a more just world, one of David’s other goals is to get his master’s degree in social work. As one of his professors wrote, David has “an amazing ability to look deep into the heart of what connects us.” Donations will help support David as he continues his pursuit of higher education.
Any and all support for David as he embarks on this chapter of his life would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
