David Cardenas with unexpected medical expenses

Donation protected
11/8: David is currently in the hospital, recuperating from surgery. The wound is still open to monitor for potential infection, and the removal of his NG tube is expected soon. His progress is positive, with improving numbers, and he began physical therapy a few days ago, progressing to sitting in a chair. Your continued support is truly appreciated.

An update following David's surgery on November 4th: During the procedure, the surgeons discovered underlying issues that were not visible on the CT scan. Consequently, they had to resect 3 feet of his small intestine due to tissue necrosis that occurred during the prolonged waiting period. Currently, his wound remains open to prevent infection, and the medical team is diligently monitoring his vital signs, providing wound care, and assisting with physical therapy while awaiting his body's recovery processes. Although it will be a challenging journey, David's resilience and your unwavering support keep his spirits high. On behalf of his entire family, we express our heartfelt gratitude for the love and support you have shown. ❤️

:An important update for everyone: On November 4th, my stepdad is scheduled for a significant surgery. Multiple medical issues have been affecting him, and this upcoming procedure will serve as an exploratory operation to uncover the root causes of his lack of progress. Your thoughts and prayers for his well-being are deeply appreciated, and any support you can provide will make a difference.

Hello, I'm Lauryn Hale, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my Stepdad, David Cardenas. My parents, who are the epitome of selflessness, have always been there for others, even during the most challenging times. Now, it's our turn to support them.

-On October 25th, David had a sudden health scare that sent him to the Methodist E.R. He initially had no pain, but there was a worrisome suspicion of internal bleeding. As the results of the CT scan came in, the medical team acted swiftly and took him into emergency surgery. It was discovered that an artery had erupted in his large intestine, leading the doctors to make a critical decision to embolize the artery to stop the bleeding.

Since the procedure, David has encountered a multitude of complications, enduring tremendous pain, dealing with issues like ischemic bowel, potential sepsis, the need for an NG tube, blood transfusions, and even a blockage in his small intestine. Unfortunately, he's not out of the woods yet and is still experiencing internal bleeding.

I've initiated this fundraiser to assist with the unforeseen medical bills and the financial strain on both of my parents due to their inability to work during this challenging time. We are uncertain about where this journey will take us, but I'd rather not see my parents silently struggle with mounting bills. Your support will mean the world to us and will help ease the burden on our family during this difficult period. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, any little bit helps.
