David Cerda's Recovery Plan
Donation protected
(Please note that this story has been upated). On January 18th at 3 AM, David was on his motorcycle and was struck head-on by a drunk driver driving an SVU. The driver was driving on the wrong side of the road. Miraculously, David survived the accident but sustained multiple and severe injuries, including swelling of the brain, multiple facial fractures, severely broken arm (the hopsital had to amputate parts of his fingers) and bruised lungs, among other injuries. It has been 2 and a half weeks since the accident and the response to help David has been amazing as we hit the initial goal of $25,000. Now that some time has passed and the extent of David's injuries are better understood we have decided to up the goal to $100,000 (with no plans to increase it once it's hit). We don't know the outcome of insurance payments from the other drivers insurance yet. What we do know is that this will be a long recovery (up to 2 years), traumatic brain injuries range from $80,000 to 3,000,000 and it will be some time, if ever, that David will be able to return fully to work. Like his recovery, this campaign will go on for some time. David may well need financial assitance for the next few years. So, please, continue to help and support David as he fights to return from these injuries. I'll leave you with this great post.
