Christmas Fire
Donation protected
My name is Alex, and I’m hoping to raise enough money to help my uncles family after experiencing the worst month in December 2023. My uncle David was being treated for an unknown illness, and he is still being treated for it right now. Christmas wasn’t properly celebrated this year due to recovery from being hospitalized for more than 19 days including being sent the ICU during the stay. During the hospital stay, my uncle had been out of work due to the hospitalization, and his wife, Maysee, had also been off of work to care for him and the rest of the family.
My uncle and aunt has 4 children, ages 15, 12, 8, and 3. Their oldest is autistic and his routine had been drastically changed since the hospitalization which brought a lot of stress and anxiety. While in the hospital the rest of the kids continued to do what they can as normal, such as gymnastics, after school activities, and at home routines to the best they can.
My uncle was discharged a few days before Christmas, and was able to celebrate with his family. Even though he is still recovering, and trying to come up with a new normal, a few days after Christmas, their garage caught fire due to an electrical outlet. Around 10:30pm the family was getting ready for bed, and heard the fire alarm. My uncle went to check and after opening the door going into the garage, a large cloud of black smoke entered the house. All they could do was call the emergency services, and escape safely. The smoke took over the house in less than 5 minutes and everyone escaped with only what they had on. The extent of the damage is in the garage, but the drywall and everything in the entire house needs to be completely replaced due to all the smoke and soot.
They have homeowners insurance and is working with a restoration company. It will take a minimum of 4-6 months until they will be able to return home. All of the Christmas toys, gifts and many treasured personal items will be written off as unsalvageable. All the belongings in the garage has been destroyed as well, which includes both their vehicles.
This series of unfortunate incidents and transition has been scary and stressful for the family. They feel blessed to be alive and with family and friends. My uncle is the hardest working person and gives 100 percent of his time, love, and energy to his family, friends, and any strangers that cross his path. Please bless their hearts and turn this Christmas disaster of an ending to 2023 and make it a great new year and beyond for their family in 2024.
The monetary donations will go toward:
1. Any medical bills that was not covered by insurance during the hospital stay, and continued medical care.
2. Any unknown accumulating bills that arise during the displacement of the family.
3. Purchasing of any supplies and necessities for the children and family.
4. Income replacement due to both parents not being able to work consistently during this month.
We will continue to update any progress here with my uncles health condition, and their homecoming journey. Thank you for the consideration.
