David “Coopy” Cooper

My mother, Wendy, grew up in College Park, MD with her older brother David. He was better known as Coop/Coopy.

In 2015 their father, David W Cooper, passed away. Coop remained in their childhood home caring for his mother. Selflessly Wendy fought for her brother and mother. She made sure they were taken care of each and every day. In 2022 their mother, Gladys A Cooper passed away and their childhood home was sold. Wendy continued to stick by her brother’s side. She cared for him deeply and made sure he was taken care of in every way. 

Coop’s final move was to Kilmarnock, VA where he lived until his unexpected death on February 5, 2024. He passed peacefully in his sleep.

Coop could talk your ear off about any sport. He loved rooting for the Terps, Redskins, and the New York Yankees. He loved sports talk, swapping stories, and a cold beer. Coop could talk your ear off about anything really. He enjoyed any opportunity to be social and to make others laugh. Some of his best stories were from time spent on a fishing boat and around a campfire. Some of my favorite memories are beach and camping trips.

In November he said to us “Before I die I’m going back to Florida”. We hope he rests peacefully on the sands of a Florida beach. 

We are all devastated by his passing and were not prepared for the high cost of cremation services. Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time.
