Beginning in late 2017 and proceeding, consistently since, a rash of medical issues including the diagnosis and the removal of a benign Pituitary Tumor, Hydrocephalus, Subdural Hematoma, a case of Acinebacter (blood infection), not to mention multiple, medical procedures (2 eye surgeries, shunt adjustments) and months upon months of rehab and medical bills have forced David and I into a financial bind. The current state of the job market here in California has forced me to work multiple jobs, at minimum wage, sometimes for 70-80 hours a week to make ends meet since David is unable to work because of his condition. After searching for a long time (over 18 months), I was able to secure a job that offered insurance and benefits, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was laid off 17 days after starting and forced back into working multiple roles at a minimal wage.
We have medical bills, and living expenses that we still need to settle and pending procedures we are unable to schedule that could preserve David’s sight and general health because of a lack of insurance, a car lease that ends in May that we don’t know if we can renew, the need to travel hours upon hours from our area to others and various other concerns as simple as putting food on the table and gas in our car to contend with. You all know me and you know that I am not one to ask for assistance. I have always been a person that will do whatever it takes to stay financially afloat. But our situation has become so dire that—after speaking at length with our close friends and family—we have decided to set-up this Go Fund Me while we explore our immediate and long term options.
David and I understand that times are difficult right now as many of you, reading this are likely dealing with your own financial issues due to the pandemic, the resultant unemployment and putting food on your own tables, paying your bills and keeping a roof over your head. It goes without saying that I would not be doing this now if I didn’t have to. If you can contribute even a little bit to our goal of $7,500.00, we would greatly appreciate it and you.
