David Gomien's medical & related expenses

My dad, mom, and brother were involved in a bad house fire on Saturday, March 16th. My mom, brother, and the 2 family dogs are okay. However, my dad sustained severe injuries. He has 3rd degree burns covering approximately 60% of his body. He was airlifted to a burn center in Augusta, GA in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 17th. He is currently in the ICU and will likely remain there for several months and undergo many surgeries. His condition will be touch-and-go for a while. He has an extremely long road to recovery ahead. My dad is a fighter and we are optimistic, but it will not be easy.

Right now, he is under full time sedation because of the severity of the injury. He also had his first surgery of many this morning.

If you have ever met my dad, you know he would give you the shirt off his back. He truly has a heart of gold. He does so much for his family and is the best dad (and grandpa) in the world.

The house will need to be rebuilt. We have no real estimate on a time frame, but it will be at least a year. We don't have many other insurance details yet. For the time being, my brother is living in our home and my mom is in a dog-friendly hotel with the 2 dogs. Although we do have some leads on a temporary place for the dogs.

Without getting into too many financial details, my dad is 64 years old and was still working a full time job with no plans to retire for several years.

Proceeds from this gofundme will go towards my dad's medical care, travel/hotel related expenses, continuing to pay his bills (car payment, insurance, etc), and any other expenses that may arise in the next few months.
