Hello friends of David,

My name is Randy Hoyt and I am David's younger brother. I set this page up to help him get into a rehab facility that will support his recovery from a stroke he suffered in October. It affected his right side and his ability to speak properly. He has to learn how to do things all over again that you and I take for granted, like talking, putting on clothes, and moving around. To do this, he needs a good rehab facility.

He has come a long way from those first dark weeks, and has been moved out of the hospital into a facility that his insurance covers. Many of us don't realize it until we are in trouble ourselves that we are underinsured and need help bridging the gap. The facility he is in only provides active rehab sessions three or four times a week, but with the type of injury David has experienced that simply isn't enough. He needs daily sessions to push him and stimulate new and old brain pathways to recover. He may never recover 100% but he is a tough and determined one and if anyone can recover he will.

We have located a facility that will take him, but they need nearly $2000 up front to get him a bed. If you know him, you know that he doesn't have that kind of money lying around. That, and he needs to be able to cover the costs of keeping his house and other medical expenditures that might come up. He is currently applying for other aid, but with a stroke time is everything. You have to keep working your mind and muscles to get better. David deserves to be in a better rehab facility that can help him to push himself to heal.
