David J Ewins SEM Award
Donation protected
This is the official fundraising campaign for the "David J Ewins Award," which has been proposed to the Society of Experimental Mechanics. The goal is to raise $50,000 for an endowment that will fund the cash prize of $5,000 that will accompany this prestigious award, which will be offered bi-annually. This award proposal was created by Matt Allen in collaboration with Dario Di Maio and Dan Inman and was approved by SEM in June 2023. Feel free to reach out to them with any questions.
David Ewins had an immeasurable impact on the field of structural dynamics. He left behind the most influential book on modal testing to date and was the PhD supervisor for many who have gone on to become leaders in the field. He initiated several international collaborations on various topics including on the dynamics of aircraft turbine engines, friction in mechanical joints and smart dynamic testing.
Note that donations can now be made directly to SEM at the following link. This is now the preferred donation method.
At that page, select the David Ewins Award Fund.
If you still choose to use this site, 100% of contributions (minus the 2.9% fee charged by gofundme) will be given to the Society for Experimental Mechanics to establish the endowment for this award.
