David Kanko Memorial

This GoFundMe is organized by the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Fire Department, the IAFF Local F-313 on behalf of the family of David Kanko.

With deep regret and sadness, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Fire & Emergency Services, the International Association of Fire Fighters Local F-313 and the Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company announce the unexpected passing of Brother David Kanko on January 21, 2022.

Dave began his firefighting career with Beachwood Volunteer Fire Department from 1988 to 1996, earning the position of Lieutenant. In 1989, he became a career firefighter with the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Fire Department, where he was recently promoted to the rank of Captain. In 1996, after moving to Stafford Township, New Jersey, he joined the Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company, where he would become a Life Member.

Brother Kanko was a friend, mentor, firefighter’s firefighter and confidant to many; he will be remembered and rejoiced as such. Brother Kanko impacted each person within the departments he served and his Local and will be sorely missed. In this time of grieving, reach out to each other, check on your brothers and family. Please keep the Kanko family and closest of friends in your thoughts. This is assuredly one of the most difficult experiences.
