David Kirk Seagers Memorial Downingtown West HS
Donation protected
My name is Kirsten Seagers Szalapski, daughter of David Kirk Seagers, or as many people knew him: Kirk or Mr. Seagers. On June 12, he unexpectedly passed away. He was a loving father to me and devoted husband to his wife, Shelly. Kirk’s first career was as a petroleum engineer, followed by many years in banking, but he found his true calling in his third career as a teacher. For the past 12 years, Mr. Seagers was a dynamic, energetic physics teacher at Downingtown West High School. The school was his second home, and the staff and students meant the world to him. He truly found joy helping his students build their physics knowledge, but more importantly in helping them learn how to learn. In honor of Mr. Seagers, we would like to establish a memorial at Downingtown West High School. The details of the memorial have not been finalized, but we are considering a bench, planting a tree, garden, etc. Any excess funds will be donated to the school’s math and physics departments. We will accept donations through Friday, July 28th. Once donations close, we will work with Principal Barker to finalize the details of the installation and communicate the details of an unveiling and celebration of life, planned for late summer or early fall. We thank you for your support and hope that we can give back to the Downingtown West community in a way that Mr. Seagers would have wanted.
