David McCollum Family Fund
Donation protected
First and foremost, we are moved beyond measure at the incredible outpouring of love and support we have received on Dave McCollum’s behalf. Tim and I have had several people reach out about helping our sister and her girls via donations. So here we go……..
On the morning of April 5, 2023 Dave went for a run before work at 5:30am. Tris thought he had returned and left for work. She got a text from a wife of a coworker of Dave’s at about 10:30am They were concerned that he didn’t show up for work without a phone call.. that is not like him. Tris then tried to track his car to see if there were any accidents on his route to work, as well as call him. No answer several times. Then somehow his phone auto answered. She was screaming his name. Someone at the hospital reached in to his bag of belongings after hearing her and asked who it was.
What we know now is that while he was on his run, a woman driving to work saw him on the side of the road struggling to get up.. approx. 6:30am She called 911 and an ambulance rushed him to the hospital. He had had a stroke. A tear in his carotid artery in his neck which sent a blood clot to his brain. They did surgery to remove it and put him on a blood thinner with success. Tris was in the room with him and he was talking normal with just a slight bit of confusion. At approx. 2:15pm he started to complain that he had a terrible headache. It got worse and worse. He had a brain bleed and a second stroke from the blood thinners. He was on a ventilator until Saturday. He has taken steps forward and a few backward. We are hopeful for a full recovery .
Tris has been as strong as can be expected. This is taking a toll on her and her two beautiful girls, Murphy and Erin.
Our sister means the absolute world to Tim and I . We are hoping that by creating this GoFundMe we can take some of the pressure off of Tristin, so she can concentrate on Dave and their girls. THANK YOU to everyone that has reached out and suggested this fund. Please continue to pray for Dave and everyone involved in his recovery.
Again THANK YOU all so much for the support!
