David Parke's Medical Bills

David Parke is a friend, a brother, a decorated veteran, actor, and many other things throughout his incredible life.
On Wednesday evening Dave was taking the L-train from his home in Brooklyn to his job in Manhattan. While sitting and reading, someone came up from behind him and smashed Dave in the back of the head with a rock. Dave was knocked unconscious for a second but came to and began to struggle with his would be killer who continued to rain down blows on his head.
Dave is a tough guy. He served as a Navy hardhat diver, was a sniper in the 75th Ranger Regiment, is a former Marine, and deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq as a contractor where he saw combat. Despite having been knocked out, Dave tackled his attacker to the ground.
When the subway stopped at the next station, the attacker fled. Dazed and incoherent, Dave somehow picked himself up and stumbled to the police station to report that he had been attacked. He soon began vomiting from his head trauma and NYPD helped him get medical attention.
Dave uses Veteran's Affairs for his health care needs, but in this case the ambulance would only take him to a regular hospital. Doctors examined him and found multiple skull fractures, and busted orbital bone, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and that he is deaf in one ear from the attack.
His TBI has been downgraded, and his injuries are not life threatening, however we will likely need multiple surgeries to repair what was done to him. NYPD has been to see Dave numerous times and is serious about catching the perpetrator.
While law enforcement and health care providers have done a terrific job to help Dave, the fact remains that he is going to have extensive medical bills to pay for arising from his transportation and stay in the hospital, in addition to whatever he has to pay out of pocket for surgery.
I am a friend of Dave's and initially met him through the Ranger network in New York City. I started this GoFundMe to help support Dave's recovery from this unconscionable assault. Dave and I work together and have been pals for a long time. He's a good dude with a big heart and I'm sorry to see him going through this.
Whatever money is raised through this fundraiser will go directly to Dave in order to help him with his medical expenses. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
