David Patterson Cancer Fight
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kimberly Sizemore. I am starting this fundraiser to assist David and Malissa Patterson with expenses incurred during David's lengthy stay at Vanderbilt Hospital beginning September 29th for a bone marrow transplant.
David was diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma called Mantle Cell Lymphoma in March 2022. Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) results from a malignant transformation of a B lymphocyte in the outer edge of a lymph node follicle (the mantle zone). The transformed B lymphocyte grows uncontrolled, accumulating lymphoma cells, which causes the enlargement of lymph nodes. Sometimes, when these lymph nodes become very large or develop in other body parts, they can be called “tumors.” The MCL cells can enter the lymphatic channels and the blood and spread to other lymph nodes or tissues, such as the marrow, liver and gastrointestinal tract.
Since his diagnosis, David has undergone multiple high-dose chemotherapy treatments and several infusion treatments. David now faces an autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). An autologous stem cell transplant uses your body's healthy blood stem cells to replace your diseased or damaged bone marrow. An autologous stem cell transplant is also called an autologous bone marrow transplant.
David will begin this next part of his journey on September 29, 2022, and is expected to remain at Vanderbilt for 5-8 weeks to complete this type of treatment. Any donations go directly to David and his wife to help cover expenses during this time. Any donations to help alleviate the stress of the costs are appreciated. If you cannot donate, we understand and ask that you keep David in your prayers, which will suffice. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers as David battles this disease.
