David Payne Army veteran life saving care
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Davina and I am trying to help my Dad.
A few days ago I got the devastating message that my Dad, David Payne, was rushed into hospital because he had passed out. He had lost a lot of blood due to unknown internal bleeding and urgently needed 4 pints, without this he wouldn’t have made it. So far he has had 2 pints of blood donated and things are looking up
Hopefully he will now be strong enough to have an endoscopy to find out where the bleeding is coming from and get the right care to help treat him. It’s been very tough as my Dad is in the Philippines and has a very rare blood type A- and they had no blood for him anywhere, but the kindness of strangers donating has given him a chance at life.
Now the next worry is that my dad is facing a large hospital bill, firstly to cover the emergency care he has had already then the costs of whatever treatment he needs. It will likely go over the £3,000 but the full cost is unknown at the moment.
My dad is an Army Veteran, he served as a combat Medic in the army (RAMC) for over 20 years. He saw combat in Northern Ireland and in the Falklands, he’s a lucky survivor as he was on the Sir Galahad ship that was bombed, which sadly was the biggest single loss of life for the Army since WW2, he helped save as many as he could. Upon leaving the Army he retired to the Philippines. He has been volunteering his time over there helping those in need and training locals in first aid. He lives off of his Army pension which gets him by month to month but there is nothing left over to pay for Insurance which is very expensive in the Philippines. The standard care does not cover what he has needed in this life threatening situation
The hospital have handed my Step Mum Lorna a large bill which needs to be paid now as they have reached their credit limit, unless this is paid he will not be able to have the endoscopy or any further treatment which means my Dad will not recover. They have already wiped out their savings paying some of the initial costs.
I feel that I have asked a lot already asking strangers to donate their blood to him which has been amazing! It really restores human faith having such kindness shown from strangers!
If you are able to help donate towards his hospital bill I will be forever grateful and will pay it forward in anyway I can
Thank you for taking the time to read :)
