David Pearl's Journey to Live
Donation protected
David Pearl is one of those rare, truly upbeat happy-spirited kind of guys that everyone loves being around. He is the first to lend a hand even though he has never asked for help for himself. He is also a wonderful husband and father and our longtime, good friend and neighbor.
David became ill & after months of trial & error, was diagnosed with a rare and rapid form of “Scleroderma." Hardening of the skin is the most noticeable aspect of the disease, however, in David’s case, he’s suffering from “diffuse scleroderma” (in which the disease progresses rapidly) with “sclerosis” or fibrous hardening of the internal organs. Take a look at David’s "hardened skin" photo below and imagine what it’s doing to his insides…
David’s disease also gifted him with the added suffering of Raynaud’s phenomenon and severe Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms; (his hands are so swollen and tight, that they resemble disposable gloves filled with water.)
Admirably, David continues to work.
In addition to the medical expenses, he and his wife Shari are spending thousands of dollars traveling to & from the specialist in Chicago while staying in hotels for several days and sometimes up to several weeks at a time.
David’s treatment:
David’s best chance at recovery is a complicated treatment designed to, “re-start” his immune system.
In a nutshell: It starts w chemo, to kill his immune system. Then harvesting his stem cells. More rounds of chemo and eventually the return of the harvested stem cells.
With treatment, David has a very good chance of stopping the progression.
Please consider donating; even just a few dollars will help…
