It is a devastating situation when someone you love is hurting & there is nothing you can do to help ease the pain. As many of you know, David has been having an extremely difficult battle with lung cancer since December when they discovered a mass on his right lung via chest X-ray, which lead to additional tests that revealed the mass to be non-small-cell lung cancer, as well as the presence of smaller masses in two lymph nodes near the carcinoma.
David began six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments in February, & seemed to feel better until May 1st, when he was in so much pain he went to the ER. Since then, the pain has spread from his left rib cage to the majority of his back on the left side, small portions on the right side, & his neck. He received a high powered dose of radiation to the lesion on his 7th rib on his left side, and to the spot on his brain, & started Keytruda (immunotherapy) on May 30th and will continue to get treatments every 3 weeks, followed by a PET scan every 3 treatments to check the results. He also plans to have an MRI every 30 days to monitor any new spots that may show up on his brain.
David has been a vital part of MIIA & a close friend to all of us for many years. We are so blessed to have him in our lives & want to show our love and support by helping with the financial difficulties he and his family are facing during his courageous battle with cancer.
We humbly ask for your support & are extremely grateful for anything & everything you are able to contribute. In the words of David himself: “I have learned some valuable lessons throughout this journey, and will continue to seek those lessons in the days to come. One thing remains true... God is good. And so are all of you. Thank you for everything.”
