David Riggs Memorial

My name is Jenna and this week, we suddenly lost my dad, David Riggs. He was 55 and full of life. He lived for his family and for helping others. He especially cherished his kids: myself, my brother Brandon (30) and my 8 year old little brother Aiden.
Dad never knew a stranger. He’d give you the shirt off his back and food off his plate. He had a tough exterior but a big soft heart. He was the life of the party and was a guy you just wanted to know and hang out with. He was a teacher. He exuded confidence and never met a challenge he backed down from. He could do anything.
He owned a mechanic shop, Riggs Automotive, and through that especially was able to be a support to many in the Oceanway community when they needed help. There were many times he’d help someone down on their luck with their car, telling them to pay when they could, or exchange services for food or by bartering if that’s all they could afford. He was an honest mechanic just trying to help people the best way he knew how. He would stop what he was doing to come to you to help in a time of need. Day or night. And he made a habit of taking people in under his wing, especially at risk youth, to teach them life skills and mentor them to get them to a place where they were flourishing. He could sometimes have a tough outside, but his heart was so so big. His priority was people. And showing love and kindness through his actions was a daily occurrence for him.
Dad was such a great man. Anyone who knew him would say the same.
Many people he’s touched have reached out asking to help so we’ve created this fundraiser for that purpose. He was too young to leave this world, and in the aftermath of his death there are two things donations would go towards. The first is to cover funeral expenses. This was an unexpected and untimely passing and as such we are unprepared financially. The second more important thing is for my 8 year little brother. My dad was the primary breadwinner and his absence will be felt in expenses for my little brother as he gets older. His fiancé Marci will now be operating as a single mom and we would like to help them both as much as possible. Any donations that exceed funeral expenses will be set aside for Aiden and his future.
If you are unable to give financially, we completely understand and instead ask for your prayers of peace and comfort for our family.
On behalf of my dad and my family, thank you for your thoughts, prayers, donations and support. We appreciate them all more than you know. ♥️
