David Semmler standing strong & defeating cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Dayna Stebbins and I am fundraising for my brother Dave.
It's crazy how our lives can change in a single moment and that's exactly what happened to David J. Semmler on September 13th, 2022.
After noticing himself not feeling well, being extremely fatigued all-the-time, and with several people telling David that he was looking very "skinny", David went out and purchased a scale to weigh himself. He was down to 120lbs. - Being 5'11", you can imagine how much weight he'd lost. This is what prompted the initial doctors visits which led to his diagnosis.
David was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on that day. He has one very large spot on his lung, and after further series of CT, MRI, and PET scans, the doctors found that the cancer had spread to his brain (4 tumors).
Being told that you have only "3 weeks to 8 months to live" is about as scary as it gets. As a family we banded together and decided this was definitely worth a second opinion. We quickly got online and researched who has the best treatment facilities to treat cancer. We called one renowned cancer institute in Texas and then found another that is held in high regard in Chicago. With the logistics of everything considered, David chose the institute in Chicago and has been receiving treatment from them ever since. To date, David has received 25 doses of radiation to his head (for the 4 tumors) and just today received his second round of chemotherapy.
This campaign to help David isn't one of trying to cover all the costs involved in his continuing treatment to fight off this cancer, it's simply one to inform and invite as many people as possible to share their prayers and maybe a few bucks to help alleviate some of the financial hardship that has been brought to David (to help him get through this). Thankfully David's healthcare from his job is covering enough of this to where he can actually be treated in Chicago. The bills, however, are starting to roll in and the cost of the hotel stays and travel expenses are starting to stack up.
We all know times are tough right now with all the inflation (gas prices, food prices, etc) and just how expensive it is to just live. It's crazy but If you're capable of sending even $10 or $20, that would be amazing!
Thank you for taking the time to read and understand what David is going through right now and thanks to everyone, for their donations and prayers. It means everything to us as a family and this show of love means everything to David.
God Bless to every one of you and thanks, again!
