David Thurston fighting Stage 4 Lung Cancer

It is with a heavy heart that we create this GoFundMe page.

To those who know Dave, know he is the light in so many lives. He enjoys his family, grandkids, and being a firefighter. It is what makes his world go ‘round. Unfortunately, Dave felt under the weather in January which lead him to being hospitalized. First at Riverside Walter Reed then transferred to Riverside Regional. While there we were informed that he has stage 4 lung cancer (adenocarcinoma / non-small-cell) that has metastasized to other places such as the right adrenal tube, lymph nodes, and has expanded vastly in his brain.

He has already underwent Gamma Knife treatments for a mass in his frontal lobe that was causing swelling and a midline shift. At this time, we are unsure where the road is going to take him from here.

With all of that being said, we are already seeing a decline in work and his ability to do everyday tasks. We know that Dave/Pop-Pop/Captain 30, has impacted so many lives, is well loved and respected in our community. This GoFundMe is 1 of the few fundraisers we will be holding to raise funds for him directly as he treads through this unfamiliar territory.
