Age 68, Born April 22,1954 in Bossier City, LA, to Kathleen and Orlan Brown, Jr. Died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 @ 3am, at the Hospice House of Tavares from colon cancer. He died peacefully in his sleep with his wife by his side. Dave’s work career began at age 15 for the City of Orlando laying tar for the roads. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 from 1971-1974 honorably discharged. Later a passion for woodworking led him to Lake Tech for carpentry class, which then led him to a career in construction, building homes all over Lake County, FL. He also worked for Allied Tire as store manager between 1982 and 1984. He went back into construction as a foreman for 17 years. From there he joined the Lake County School Board as custodian at Seminole Springs Elementary until 1999 when he went to Umatilla Middle School as head custodian, where he also coached the high school bowling team. He finished his 22- year career at the school board as head groundskeeper for all Lake County Schools. Dave then worked as a manager overseeing the deconstruction/reconstruction of shopping mall kiosks and storefronts from San Diego to Miami to Maryland. He ended his working career as part time custodian for Lakeside Lanes bowling alley. Dave was a Christian man, loving husband, dad, son, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joanne Brown; Daughter: Crystal (Jimmy) El Sabbagh, Sons: Gregory Brown, Justin (Melissa) Brown, and Ryan Brown; “Adopted Daughter”: Stacy (Rob) Hunt and Mother: Kathleen Starling. He is also survived by Grandchildren: Trinity, Tracie, and Adam El Sabbagh, Annabelle Brown, and Finley Brown; and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by Father: Orlan Brown, Jr and Brother: Michael Brown. His loves and hobbies included spending time with family and friends, bowling, traveling with his wife, and spoiling his grandchildren. He lived a full and rich life and was loved by many. The family has asked in lieu of flowers to kindly consider gift cards or monetary gifts to help his wife with expenses during this time of transition and need.
