David Yim ('Yimmy') Appreciation Fund

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jamie. In 2022 I will be running the London Marathon raising funds for Young Lives vs Cancer. This will be my first and most probably my last London Marathon. Anyway, enough about me.

Anyone who is a runner, has or is planning on running the London Marathon, or those who generally walk around London and have seen a sweaty jogger trying very hard to record himself talking while doing so will be familiar with David Yim, aka Yimmy.

What David is doing is blogging while jogging. You could say he is a blogger jogger!

David is sharing his experiences, providing tips, congratulating himself when he has a good run and being his worst critic when not. He is providing information on what works for him and what does not. Generally providing all-round sound advice for those taking on the mammoth task of running 26 miles around London, in a city that, to be fair, has its fair share of cabs! All of this information he shares on his social media platform.

David does that for free. He has done this for a number of years. He helps people achieve their goals. He provides feedback, support and responds to any questions you ask (kudos is a new word I learnt this year!)

As a 44-year-old who, at the start of 2022, was not only preparing for their first marathon but learning to run any distance whatsoever, this advice I continue to find so helpful and a very much-needed boost when things are not going so well.

I know that there are many others in the same position who have taken encouragement from Davids's wise words and advice.

Many times, I have thought, 'I want to buy this man a beer'. To show my appreciation for David taking his time and efforts to help me, someone he has never met before, to achieve MY goals. Logistics have always been an issue and on October 2nd I feel beer probably will not be a good hydration strategy!

So this fund is for me and others who share this appreciation to buy David a beer as a simple way of saying:

Thank You, David!

p.s I can not stretch to London prices, but I am starting this fund with £5 (perhaps that will buy you a half?) and invite others to chip in for a well-deserved meal and a good couple of nice bottles post-London Marathon of course! This fund will remain open until London Marathon day on 2nd, with proceeds of the fund handed over to David for him to spend on how he sees fit.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS FUND IS NOT LINKED TO A CHARITY AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A CHARITABLE DONATION.
