David's Battle with Mesothelioma

My name is Abbie and I'm fundraising for my parents and to support my dad. My dad, David, was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma. It started three weeks ago when he went to the hospital for fluid in his lungs, which is when they discovered he did not just have pneumonia. He underwent surgery to determine what was causing this fluid buildup and that is where they found the cancer cells lining his lung. The biopsy of these cells came back at the beginning of this week, determining he has mesothelioma, which is cancer caused by asbestos. Currently, he is still in the hospital to determine a plan of action and we're hoping he will be home before Christmas.

My parents have been together for 32 years and Dad was always the main money provider. With him in the hospital, it has been extremely difficult for my mom as she had recently undergone knee surgery and has not been working. This fundraising will not only help with medical bills but also any other bills that my parents have.

My dad is the funniest and most caring man and he has always supported his family. And hopefully, this fundraiser will support him and my mom through the battle with cancer. Any donations are helpful and I really appreciate anyone for supporting my parents and family in this extremely difficult time.

Update 2/7: here’s a little update on how Dave is doing. As of today dad is back in the hospital after being home for about a month. He has a collapsed lung, broken rib, and pneumonia that is most likely the result of the tumor growth in his lungs. He had already started immunotherapy, but that is on stand still until we learn more about his current condition tomorrow.
