Davids Rehabillitation from Peripheral Neuropathy
Donation protected
All funds go to supporting a local homeless and disabled friend of the
South Austin community: David Taylor in facilitating his journey of healing,
rehabilitation and re-emergence into the world
David's Story:
David experienced frostbite during an abnormal freeze event in 2019 and this evolved into severe chronic pain and stage 5 peripheral neuropathy (long-term sequelae of frostbite) which ultimately resulted in paralysis of his legs.
Over the past 5 years David has lived beneath 2 trees in the Austin community, (only being moved once by the city during SXSW in March of 2023) becoming deeply connected to the Earth and the trees themselves. He now
resides beneath a beautiful ash near Barton Springs
David’s loving relationship with the Earth, meditative presence, concrete resilience and unique brilliance seem to be the keys to his survival.
David is a true anomaly, and an embodiment of loving presence. Unlike much of the general homeless population David is sober and aside from facing asperges he is socially adept.
He is such an obscure case for the public system (being mentally unimpaired, sober, homeless and immobile) that it has not been possible for public aid to be of service in a timely sense
Our Goal:
To provide David with a sovereign path of healing, rehabilitation and reemergence into society. Along with this we would like to create a community of beings around David who are genuinely invested in his journey along with finding him an naturally/ecologically connected space to live that would fit his healing needs.
The Path Ahead:
-Create a community around David
-Find an ecologically/environmentally connected space for David to heal
-Finance his medical, general and housing needs
-Maintain consistent connection with him throughout the healing process
If you feel genuinely called to be apart of the community around David, please reach out! We would love to have more members of this team!
