It is with a very heavy heart that I create this. Our beloved Lecara and her incredible family is going through hell right now. I know Lecara has touched each of our hearts and their family (if you haven't had the privilege of meeting) are equally as bright of a light as she is.

 

Anything we can share to support her and her family to focus on each other rather than finances would be amazing.

Below is what Lecara wrote:

We are in a living hell again; this time, it is a lot darker.

This week, Devan was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the beginning of this week. His memory had been off for two weeks, and he had been experiencing awful headaches for a month. On Monday, his headaches became too much to bear, and we went to emergency in Creston. He was sent to Cranbrook for a CT and MRI and was quickly told the results, "You have a very large tumor in your brain". The doctor showed us the MRI (you didn't have to be a radiologist to spot the tumor). Devan was flown to Kelowna on Tuesday and met with a Neurologist. Unfortunately, the news was horrific.

The tumor is inoperable. It has grown in the middle of his brain, crossing the corpus callosum. He has a butterfly glioblastoma.

 

He has 1-6 months to live.

 

We are devastated. There are no words to explain the heartbreak we are feeling.

Devan did have a biopsy on the tumor to confirm the diagnosis. We are hoping to do some radiation to extend his life with us a little longer than 3-6 weeks with no treatment.

We are now home in Creston to enjoy time together. The weeks to come will be difficult, but precious. If you see him around town, say hi. Maybe try to avoid the question 'How are you?' Get creative;). Also, know that his short term memory is being affected by the tumour. He may repeat himself or ask the same question twice.
