Beau, I and the kids have some surprising, amazing and possibly slightly crazy news to share!  While I was in China picking up our precious Evie I had the pleasure of spending some time at her foster home.  The women who care for those children are truly angels in disguise!  The children are clearly loved and cared for, but regardless, a foster/group home setting is not a substitute for a family.  There was one particular child that caught my attention, and has continued to pull at my heart since that day. The sweet little girl is so tiny and delicate, with the gentlest spirit I have ever encountered.  Her story, and similarities to Evie’s are just too much to ignore.  She was abandoned at the same location, taken into the same orphanage, sent to the same organization for her heart surgery, and then transferred to the same amazing foster home.  The girls clearly loved each other very much.  We can show Evie a picture of “Cosette” and her face just lights up.

While this precious child has made amazing progress in the last year, she still has a long way to go.  She desperately needs a family to love her, and provide her with the medical care and therapy she will require to reach her full potential.  I have no doubt she is destined for great things, just needs someone to step out in faith and help her do that!

It is so true what people say… it’s a lot harder to ignore these children when they have a face and a name.  After much discussion, and even more prayer, we have decided that family is us!  We just can’t leave her there, and we definitely can’t ignore the help she needs and the fact that God tells us this is our responsibility.

“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”  James 1:27

It is no secret that the financial commitment of international adoption is daunting.  While we did a couple small fundraisers with Evie’s adoption, we funded about 98% of it from our savings.  With that being said, our resources are exhausted and we are going to have to work to raise basically all of what we need this time around.  Our goal is $20,000 to raise by the spring.  We will need it at various times during the process, with our first check going out now. It sounds overwhelming, but we have faith that our God will provide.  Look at it this way…. That is 1000 people giving $20, 800 people giving $25, 400 people giving $50, or 200 people giving $100.  When it’s broken down like that it seems a lot more manageable!  Please pray, and see if this is something you feel you could do to help.  Do you know someone who may be able to?  Can you share this with your church? Men/women’s group? Co-workers?

“Don’t try to avoid responsibility by saying you didn’t know about it.  For God knows all hearts, and He sees you.  He keeps watch over your soul, and he knows you knew! And he will judge all people accordingly to what they have done.” Proverbs 24:12

We will have many fundraisers coming up, so we apologize in advance.

Remember… not everyone is called to adopt, but everyone can do something to help!
