Davis & Colton

My name is Christy. I'm a single mother of 2 precocious boys, Davis(8yro) and Colton(6yro). We have had a long hard journey over the years and I wanted to tell you a little about our life. Davis was diagnosed with Gardner's Syndrome in 2012 and has head and neck tumors. He has had several tumor removal surgeries, chemotherapy, cryotherapy, and proton radiation therapy. He is currently undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatments at Children's of Alabama. He receives MRI's every 3-4 months and depending on results the chemotherapy could change dosages and how often he would receive the treatments as well as getting a much stronger chemotherapy. He has been doing this many years and he is such a strong kid and never really has had the chance of being a normal kid. Dr visits, MRI's, chemo, and iv needles, is all he knows. It's sad when the nurses and staff watch your baby grow from 2 and up just as much as you have. Davis is known in our small town as superman and he truly is that. He shows so much bravery and strength and believes in the power of prayer.
Fast forward to May of 2019.
Colton was diagnosed as having chronic kidney failure that is known as Senior Loken Syndrome. It also affects his vision. He has gone into kidney failure and has vision problems such as swollen optic nerves, vision loss, and problems seeing in the dark( had this issue for many years). He started his dialysis treatments for 3 times as week and had genetic testing done along with a specialist for his eyes. He will have the treatments done at Children's of Alabama until he has a kidney transplant. He's aslo being considered for having what's called peritoneal dialysis which is done overnight at home. But for now I am going back and forth from Clanton to Birmingham 3 times a week if not more to keep up with both of their appointments. Colt is like his brother, he is brave and strong, and knows God is going to take care of him. He refers to himself as Batmam since brother is superman. They take care of each other and make sure they each have what they need. They are the ones who are strong and bold. Not me. I love my boys so much and would do whatever it took to take the pain and sickness away.
I am stressed to the max and I am mentally physically exhausted. I am trying my best to work and to take my boys back and forth to all the dr appointments but it's hard and I am in need of some extra help. I have a great family who tries their best to help but is having a hard time themselves. I don't like asking for help and I try my best to handle it own my own and you all that know me knows how truly stubborn I can be. So for those of you asking to help. Here you go.
I want to thank you all so much for the prayers, love, and support that we have already received and for having wonderful family and friends who have always been our rock and support system. You guys are the best. If you could help us I would greatly appreciate the help and if you cannot I totally understand and would ask that you pray for both of my boys and for myself. As a mother I am worried but as someone who believes in God I know he has brought our family to far to let us down now.
