Dawn Madaffari Recovery and Return Home Fund
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Danny DiMezza. I am raising funds for my sister Dawn Madaffari and her loving family, husband, Nico, and two daughters Valentina and Scarlett.
A few weeks Dawn was diagnosed with a cervical spinal cord compression with myelopathy. She also had contracted Influenza A which exacerbated her spinal chord injury. She was left bedridden and without full use of all of her limbs through the Thanksgiving holiday. She underwent a laminectomy about ten days ago and spent four days in ICU. Since she has been in an acute rehabilitation hospital in Philadelphia. She is progessing in her recovery, which is expected to take a minimum of three months. But, it will be a long and arduous road to recover her full mobility.
Now the goals are set day to day. One small movement, and eventual step at a time. We all are hoping she will be able to get home in time to wake up with her adoring girls for Christmas, and to see their smiling faces in the light of their tree.
Funds raised here will be used to help with all the new amenities her home will need to accommodate the duration of her recovery, as well as ambulance and medical expenses.
Please donate as little or as much as you can. Every cent counts. And in this season of giving, I am reminded it is also a season of gratitude. I am grateful for the smallest of things in this light. I get to go to work and see my children everyday. This fund will help Dawn reach the place where just going home to be the mother she was born to be will serve as the greatest Christmas gift of all.
Much love from her little brother.
