Dawnn fights ALS

Hi, we are Karen & Donna. We are fundraising for our cousin/sister Dawnn Bernt Tucker. The 3 of us are the best of friends and talk or text almost daily! Dawnn recently announced to her friends that she was diagnosed in March 2022 with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis aka ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. For those that don’t know what this is, it is a neurodegenerative disease that results in the progressive loss of neurons that control voluntary muscles. This disease will eventually steal Dawnn’s ability to walk, use her arms, talk, eat, swallow and so much more. We are heartbroken that Dawnn, Joe and their families are dealing with this diagnosis.

Dawnn recently let her friends know that ALS has started to impact her left side. Her hand has begun to atrophy and her ability to walk distances is becoming more difficult. The progression of this disease involves many expenses that are not covered by insurance but are needs for Dawnn and her family to care for her. They have recently had to purchase a handicapped accessible van, a motorized scooter/wheelchair and are having to make changes to their home to make it handicapped accessible. There are also many other future expenses that will be incurred out of pocket.

We all know what a giving person Dawnn is and how she hates to ask for any type of assistance and so we are asking for assistance for our beloved cousin/sister. Our goal with this fundraiser is to take a little bit of the financial stress off of Dawnn and Joe!
