Dawn’s fight with Pancreatic Cancer
Donation protected
Our mother was diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine: Stage 4 Mets to Liver cancer in 2022.
The doctors originally thought her cancer was from a tumor in her pancreas so they proceeded with surgery to get rid of the tumor. While in surgery they took out the tumor but found that her tumor wasn’t the source of the cancer spreading, but instead found cancer cells attacking her liver. The cancer cells cannot be taken out because they’re too large and are near a blood vessel. The doctors recommended chemotherapy which can’t get rid of the cancer but can possibly keep it from growing and hopefully prolong her life. They have given her 5 years at best to live.
Since the surgery, she has been undergoing monthly chemotherapy shots that have come with uncomfortable side effects. The funds that are raised will be used to help pay off her current medical bills from her surgery and the shots needed monthly for her treatments. We’re also hoping to raise enough to where she can quit her full time job. At the moment she’s still working to try and help pay down her accumulating medical bills which as you can imagine are leaving her drained and exhausted. We want her to be able to rest as much as she needs without having to worry about working 40 hours a week.
As you imagine this has been incredibly hard and unexpected on not just our mom but our family as well. She’s not only a mother but a wife and grandmother that we want around for a long time.
Anything you can give will be a blessing! And if you can’t give your prayers mean just as much. Thank you for your support, love and prayers for our mom.❤️
UPDATE:
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has generously contributed both donations and prayers. Your support means the world to us. At this time, we are reaching out for assistance in covering the out-of-pocket expenses associated with our mom's insurance deductible.
This past year has presented numerous health challenges for her, including the necessity of surgery to remove her gall bladder and address another tumor on her back. Currently under palliative care, her pain management is crucial as she faces a terminal illness. Despite the tremendous strain, she continues to work, albeit with reduced hours, grappling with exhaustion and constant pain.
Our immediate goal is to rally support to alleviate the financial burden of her insurance deductible. By doing so, we aim to ensure that insurance coverage extends to her upcoming surgeries and chemotherapy throughout the year.
Your continued support, be it through financial contributions or keeping our mom in your thoughts, makes a significant impact on her journey. We are profoundly grateful for the compassion and solidarity shown during this challenging time.
