Dawson Springs Community Relief Fund

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Britney Roberts Marlowe. I grew up in Dawson Springs, a very special place, as the sign says. And it truly is….even when you move away…it becomes a big part of who you are.

The town, the community, has been devastated by a massive tornado, much of the town completely destroyed. Help has been flooding in, the generosity of strangers, friends, family, neighbors has been humbling and amazing. This is going to be a very long road to recovery and rebuilding. And while it is in the spotlight now and on our hearts and minds, so often when tragedy hits…we quickly forget the needs and struggles of others when our own lives get busy.

This GoFundMe page is to collect money to be used for people and families in the community who have lost everything, right now and in the future. For immediate needs such as hotel stays, travel to new homes/rentals, gas for generators, vehicles to get to work, etc. and for future needs when rebuilding begins. The funds will go to 501c3 called Connecting Adventures that was founded by Tana Roberts, my mom. My mom grew up in Dawson Springs and has spent her life there helping the community and people with anything and everything. Tana and Lori Wooton, who has also spent her life in Dawson and was the school guidance counselor for many years, will be managing and getting all the funds to the people who need them now. They love this community and are a part of it. If you are able, please give generously. Thank you for being a blessing to so many who are hurting.

Update: We have once again been overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity. Wow! Thank each of you for giving. Let’s keep sharing and get even more to help this special community. Every penny will be used in the community to meet the many needs of families while they work to rebuild their lives. Thank you!

Update #2:
I just wanted to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have sacrificed to give so generously! You are so appreciated!
I wanted to give a brief update on how your donations are being used in the community. Funds have been used to purchase many gift cards for families for varying needs, cash has been distributed to help families with travel to appointments, work, hospital etc, and full gas cans for generators have been provided.
You have helped purchase “starter kits” for families moving to new apartments or homes including small kitchen appliances, dishes, pots and pans, baking sets, vacuums, cleaning supplies, sheet sets, etc. You have generously provided lovely bedroom and living room furniture for a young women whose apartment was destroyed. Another gentleman, who cares for his elderly mother, lost his home in the tornado.  You have purchased new kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, and furniture to help him renovate an older house, and make it a home for him and his mother.
These are just a few of the amazing ways that you have impacted those in Dawson Springs who were directly affected by the tornado.
The road ahead is long and this town will need your prayers, time, and financial support for many months, years, to come as they rebuild. Please join me in supporting this community and share this GoFundMe page with others.
Thank you just isn’t enough!
