Help Support Dawson's Diagnosis with Craniosynostosis

Hi everyone, my name is Abby. I am writing this on behalf of my sister, Emilie Whitcomb's family. Dawson came into this world on 8/29/24 and just three weeks into his little life, they are facing major challenges. Dawson was diagnosed with Sagittal Craniosynostosis. Craniosynostosis is a disorder present at birth in which one or more of the fibrous joints between the bones of your baby's skull close prematurely, before your baby's brain is fully formed. To sum it up in less 'medical' terms, Dawsons skull has fused too soon, leaving his brain with no room to grow. Within the next month Dawson will have to undergo surgery which will require a neurosurgeon at Dartmouth to remove the affected bones and the remaining bones are repositioned to increase the volume of the skull which will relieve the pressure on his brain and allow the brain room to grow. This is a major surgery that will result in days spent in the hospital and multiple follow up appointments for the next year to come. I am reaching out to help ease the burden. Dartmouth is located about 1.5 hour from their home, they will be doing a lot of commuting, Jon will be taking time away from work and at this time Emma is not able to return to work as planned for the time being due to these circumstances.
