Dax's Medical Fund

Hi Everone! I am Kimberly, I own Auburn Field Canine Services LLC and am a foster with Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS) and Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR). I have had the privilege of fostering Dax through SRGDRR since the end of March. In that time, we have watched Dax turn from a nervous cautious fellow into a dog that loves life!

But the middle of April, Dax started with a temperature and green goo coming out of his nose. After a vet visit, he started medication and seemed to be doing better but then took a turn for the worse. His limbs were stiff and he seemed to be crying out in pain. It was discovered then that Dax was heartworm postive but nothing else would trigger his symptoms or explain them. The vet and rescue members were stumped on what happened and why he wasn't feeling well. He did not move or eat/drinking for 4 days! He would just swallow enough for some medication and even then he seems to be scared and/or in pain. The decision was made to go to the vet one more time and if nothing changed we would consider letting Dax cross the rainbow bridge. But Dax had other plans and got off the bed and walked to the car and into the vet office! We then started different medications and bulked up his diet.

He has been doing great since. He has even started coming out to the kennel for daycare and loves playing with the other dogs and especially splashing in the pool! I am asking for friends and family to donate for Dax to get the treatment he needs to get rid of his heartworms and keep him on track to finding his forever home. The treatment includes x-rays and a test to confirm heartworm status and to see the severity of his condition. The funds will also provide medication to keep him safe and kill the worms.

Dax has clearly shown he is a fighter and is not ready to give up. The rescue has done great at supporting Dax and my family but they have many other pups to care for and also need treatment.
