Dayna Johnston OrCam My Eye Pro Fundraiser

Hi my name is Nicole Blades, I met Dayna over 30 years ago and it hasn't been the same since!

Dayna has always been that person to volunteer, give of her time & talent, and to be there to help anyone. She has run the South Lyon Memorial Day Parade since she was in high school, has been on dozens of commitees for community events most of her life, and is always involved in her community in some shape or form.

She has a soft heart for veterans and kids. She is creative, loving, and giving...so giving. Life has thrown Dayna so many curve balls it's not funny. But she gets back up and keeps going!

In March 2023 Dayna was ill and started losing her eyesite. She spent the majority of her days at various medical centers for the next two months. All of the staff at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center probably know every aspect of Dayna's life by now!

Dayna was seen by specialists at UofM, Cleveland Clinic, and most recently, she went to the Mayo Clinic where she was finally diagnosed with Posterior Uveitis.

To date, Dayna has lost 90% of her vision. Her doctors do not believe that her vision will return. But you know what? She's still going!! She is trying to stay involved and be the same old Dayna...even today!!

That's why I've created this fundraiser. To raise money to purchase Dayna an OrCam My Eye Pro. The OrCam attaches to a pair of glasses and will "allow" Dayna to read text messages, emails, books, letters, etc. It will allow her to be more independent even with low vision.

She hasn't been working since April 2023, so finances are tough for her family. Social Security Disability can take over 1.5 years to kick in! Unfair but true.
